Kwara Kiddies League Board Wishes Taiwo Awoniyi Speedy Recovery After Surgery

The Board of the Kwara Kiddies League has extended its heartfelt wishes for a speedy recovery to Super Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi, following his recent surgery after sustaining a serious abdominal injury in Nottingham Forest’s 2-2 draw against Leicester City last Sunday.

In an official message released on Wednesday by the Secretary of the Board, Yemi Sodiq, the board expressed concern over the incident that left the Ilorin-born striker requiring urgent medical attention and surgery.

Awoniyi suffered the injury while attempting to score during the closing moments of the match and has since been receiving care in the hospital.

“We wish Taiwo Awoniyi a quick and complete recovery following the surgery he underwent after the unfortunate injury sustained in action for Nottingham Forest,” the board said. “His strength and courage on the pitch continue to inspire countless young players across Kwara and the nation.”

The Kwara Kiddies League, which serves as a hub for nurturing young football talent in the state, praised Awoniyi not only for his contributions to football at the highest level but also for being a role model to aspiring athletes across Nigeria.

The board noted that Awoniyi’s journey from grassroots football in Kwara to the Premier League serves as a powerful testament to hard work, discipline, and determination. They encouraged him to take all the time he needs to heal and return even stronger.

As the football community continues to monitor his recovery, the Kwara Kiddies League Board reaffirmed its support for one of Kwara’s brightest footballing exports.
