The Kwara Kiddies League today held its 2026 Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the Kwara State Football Association Secretariat, Ilorin, bringing together key stakeholders in youth football across the state ahead of the commencement of the new season.
The meeting was attended by the Chairman of the Kwara State Football Association, Mallam Idris Musa Abdullahi, the FA Secretary, Mallam Kashim Agaka, and the FA Technical Adviser, Mallam Ahmed Abdullah. Also present were chairmen and representatives of the fourteen clubs participating in the 2026 season, representatives of the Kwara State Referees Council, league medical personnel, members of the Kwara Kiddies League Board, and other football stakeholders.
In his opening remarks, the Chief Operating Officer of the Kwara Kiddies League, Mr. Ibrahim Jatto, expressed his delight at the remarkable growth and achievements recorded by the league over the last five years. He highlighted the league’s contributions to grassroots football development, player exposure, talent identification, and the promotion of youth football within and beyond Kwara State.
Mr. Jatto also presented the league’s strategic roadmap for the 2026 season, outlining key projects, developmental initiatives, and events scheduled to take place during the campaign. The season calendar, operational framework, and league regulations were equally presented before the Congress for review and adoption.
The League Head of Legal and Data Management, Barrister Ibrahim Abiola, took participants through the league rules and regulations, emphasizing the importance of compliance by all clubs and stakeholders. He stressed that adherence to the established guidelines would ensure fairness, professionalism, and the continued credibility of the competition.
Addressing the gathering, the Chairman of the Kwara State Football Association, Mallam Idris Musa Abdullahi, commended the Kwara Kiddies League Board and all stakeholders for sustaining one of the most respected grassroots football competitions in Nigeria. He assured the league of the Football Association’s continued support and urged all participants to uphold discipline and respect the laws of the game throughout the season.
According to the FA Chairman, the Kwara Kiddies League has significantly enhanced the reputation of Kwara State through its commitment to youth development and football excellence. He called on clubs, officials, and stakeholders to continue working together in the interest of the young players and the growth of the game.
The meeting also provided an opportunity for club proprietors and representatives to raise observations and identify areas requiring further improvement. Speaking on behalf of the club owners, their Secretary, Mr. Oniye Muhammad Olatunji, advocated for greater collaboration between clubs and the league management, noting that collective efforts would further strengthen the competition and enhance its impact on player development.
The AGM concluded with stakeholders reaffirming their commitment to the ideals of the Kwara Kiddies League and expressing optimism for a successful and memorable 2026 season, which kicks off this weekend.
