The Chairman of the Kwara State Football Association (KWFA), Mallam Abdullahi Musa Idris, has reaffirmed the association’s commitment to grassroots football development and pledged continued support for the growth and sustainability of the Kwara Kiddies League.
Mallam Musa made this known while hosting the Chairman of the Kwara Kiddies League and Super Eagles and Nottingham Forest striker, Taiwo Awoniyi, in his office in Ilorin.
Speaking during the visit, the KWFA Chairman emphasized that football development at the grassroots remains a major priority of his administration, noting that the future of football in Kwara State depends largely on investing in young talents and creating opportunities for their growth.
He commended the efforts of the Kwara Kiddies League in discovering and nurturing young football talents across the state and assured the league of the Football Association’s continuous support.
According to him, the association will continue to partner with programmes and initiatives that promote youth football development and provide a pathway for talented players to reach higher levels of the game.
In his remarks, Taiwo Awoniyi appreciated the support the league has received from the Kwara State Football Association over the years and appealed for sustained collaboration to ensure the continued success of the competition.
The Super Eagles forward noted that the Kwara Kiddies League has become a vital platform for identifying and developing future football stars and expressed confidence that greater support from stakeholders would further enhance its impact.
Mallam Musa reiterated his longstanding commitment to youth football development, recalling his contributions to the league’s growth.
He facilitated the rewards for the Most Valuable Players (MVPs) of the competition in both 2022 and 2024.
In 2025, he also ensured that the league’s MVP was invited to participate in the National U-15 programme, providing a valuable opportunity for further exposure and development.
The FA Chairman pledged to do even more in the coming years to support talented young footballers and strengthen grassroots football structures across the state.
As part of his support for the competition, Mallam Musa was present alongside Taiwo Awoniyi during the Week Two fixtures of the ongoing Kwara Kiddies League, where both football stakeholders watched the matches and interacted with players, coaches and officials.
