Kwara Kiddies League Announces Award Categories

…..To Honour Late Soliu Sanusi

The Kwara Kiddies League has officially unveiled the full list of award categories for the current season as part of its commitment to celebrating excellence, discipline, and remarkable performances among young footballers across the league. This season’s awards will also feature a special honour dedicated to the late Soliu Sanusi, a promising kid-player of Makamz FA who died during the course of the season and whose memory continues to inspire grassroots football development.

Announcing the categories, the Chief Operating Officer of the League, Ibrahim Jatto, said the awards were carefully structured to reward both individual brilliance and team achievements while reinforcing the developmental values that define the competition.

According to him, the awards include the Team of the Season, featuring 11 outstanding players selected across all positions, and the Team of the Season (Reserves), which recognises four additional top performers.

Other confirmed categories are Player of the Season, Goalkeeper of the Season, Defender of the Season, Midfielder of the Season, and Top Striker of the Season. Jatto noted that each award highlights consistency, leadership, creativity, and overall impact throughout the campaign.

A major highlight this year is the Revelation of the Season, dedicated to honour Late Soliu Sanusi and reserved for the most exceptional U-13 player.

Further categories include Referee of the Year, Manager of the Year, and the Fair Play Award, all aimed at promoting professionalism, integrity, and discipline within the grassroots football environment.

Jatto also confirmed that the Grand Finale Planning Committee is expected to finalise and release nominees into the various categories during the week, based strictly on performance data and statistics compiled throughout the season.

The climactic event is scheduled to take place on 14th December, and is projected to be the biggest celebration of grassroots football in the state.

Expected at the Grand Finale are the Executive Governor of Kwara State, members of the State Executive Council, The Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly and Honourable members of the House, professional bodies, and distinguished football stakeholders from within and outside the state.

The Chairman of Kwara Kiddies League Ltd and Super Eagles forward, Taiwo Awoniyi, who will serve as the Host of this year’s Grand Finale, assured that the closing ceremony will be “a proper, fitting end that truly celebrates the children and their remarkable journey through the season.”

Awoniyi added that the League remains committed to creating memorable experiences for young players and strengthening the foundation of grassroots football development in Kwara State.
