The curtain rises on another exciting Kwara Kiddies League season as Achievers FA and Surprise FA renew their rivalry on the opening day for the second consecutive season.
Interestingly, these two sides also opened the 2025 campaign against each other on 27th May, 2025, with neither team able to find the breakthrough in a tightly contested goalless draw. Fate would bring them together again on the final day of last season, and this time it was Surprise FA who emerged victorious courtesy of a seventh-minute strike from Jimoh Abdulsamad, sealing a narrow 1-0 win over the Adeta boys on 14th December, 2025.
Historically, this fixture has never been associated with a flurry of goals. As the two teams prepare for their seventh meeting in league history, both sides will be eager to rewrite the script and serve up a more entertaining attacking contest.
Achievers FA enter the new season with renewed confidence after recording their best-ever league finish last campaign. The Adeta-based side secured a respectable seventh-place finish, a remarkable improvement after spending the previous three seasons battling relegation.
Leading the charge for Achievers will be the exciting Yunus Abdulmajeed, who is expected to spearhead the team’s ambitions this season. The club has also strengthened significantly with the acquisition of former Solicitor FC midfield talisman Nasir Shehu. Following Solicitor’s relegation, Achievers moved swiftly to secure the inspirational midfielder, whose experience and creativity could prove vital in their quest for further progress.
Surprise FA, meanwhile, will be aiming to build on an impressive fifth-place finish last season. Despite a slow start to the campaign, they rallied strongly in the second half of the season to establish themselves among the league’s top sides.
The visitors will, however, have to cope without influential midfielder Basit Zakariyau, whose absence will be keenly felt. Nevertheless, the presence of key players such as Pelumi Olayinka and Bilal Ajao gives Surprise FA every reason to believe they can challenge for an even higher finish this season.
With recent history, growing rivalry, and valuable points at stake from the very first whistle, all eyes will be on this intriguing season opener. Will Achievers FA gain revenge for their final-day defeat, or will Surprise FA continue their dominance in this fixture?
