The curtain rises on the 2026 Kwara Kiddies League season with an intriguing opening-day clash as GAA Akanbi FC take on Future Stars FA at the KFA Main Pitch on Sunday, June 7, 2026.
Both sides will be eager to begin the new campaign on a positive note after contrasting fortunes in the 2025 season. While Future Stars spent much of last season challenging near the summit of the table before eventually finishing in mid-table, GAA Akanbi endured a difficult campaign that saw them relegated before earning an immediate reprieve through the promotion/relegation playoff.
GAA Akanbi secured their place in the 2026 season after defeating Vanguard FA of Ogbomoso in a tense penalty shootout, giving the club a second chance to prove their quality in the league. The team will be banking on the experience of Goalkeeper of the Season, Muhammad Soliu, alongside influential Salauhdeen Taiye as they seek a stronger campaign.
Future Stars, one of the founding members of the Kwara Kiddies League since its inception in 2022, remain one of the competition’s most respected sides. Known for their discipline and resilience, they will once again look to the leadership of captain Abdullahi Kamaldeen, who earned a place in the 2025 Team of the Season following a series of outstanding performances.

Their first meeting in the 2025 season ended in a narrow 1-0 victory for GAA Akanbi FC. Abdulwahab Mustapha scored the decisive goal in the 18th minute and was deservedly named Player of the Match.
The return fixture produced even more drama as both teams settled for a 1-1 draw. Future Stars took the lead through an own goal by Hassan Abdulrasak in the 48th minute before Abdulmalik Adigun restored parity for GAA Akanbi just two minutes later.
