MATCH PREVIEW: KFA VS BUSARI FA

Champions Begin Title Defence Against Familiar Rivals

The lunch-hour fixture on the opening day of the 2026 Kwara Kiddies League season will see reigning champions KFA take on Busari FA in what promises to be an intriguing encounter.

Having rewritten the league’s history books by winning an unprecedented fourth consecutive league title, the Sky Blue Dragons return with their sights firmly set on extending their dominance and achieving yet another remarkable feat in 2026.

History, however, firmly favours the champions.

Since Busari FA joined the league in 2024, the two sides have met four times, with KFA emerging victorious on every occasion. More impressively, Busari FA are yet to score a single goal against the Dragons, while KFA have found the net nine times in those meetings.

Last season, KFA completed a league double over Busari FA with identical 2-0 victories. In the first meeting in July 2025, goals from Adisa Quadri and Eko Martins secured all three points for the champions. The return fixture on 23rd November 2025 saw Yusuf Muhammad and Adam Muhammad complete another comfortable victory to underline KFA’s superiority in the fixture.

As they begin another title defence, KFA possess plenty of firepower and experience. Two-time consecutive League MVP Eko Martins remains a key figure at the heart of the team, while all-time Kwara Kiddies League top scorer Tobi Adeoye returns to the squad eager to add to his impressive goal tally.

The Dragons have also welcomed back Vincent Ajayi, who returns after a spell with Barca Kiddies FA. Ajayi was one of KFA’s standout performers during their successful 2024 campaign and his return adds further quality and depth to an already formidable squad.

For Busari FA, the challenge is clear. They will be desperate to finally break their scoring drought against the champions and secure their first-ever victory in the fixture. Much of that responsibility could rest on the shoulders of Adua Salauhdeen and Shehu Abdulraheem, both of whom will be hoping to inspire Busari to a historic result.

While the statistics point heavily in KFA’s favour, opening day fixtures often bring surprises. Busari FA will be eager to prove they can compete with the league’s benchmark side, while KFA will be determined to begin their quest for a fifth consecutive title with another commanding performance.
