When the curtain rises on Matchday 6 of the Kwara Kiddies League, all eyes will be on the KFA Main Pitch as two of the league’s heavyweights, Unicorn FA and Koller FA, renew one of the competition’s fiercest modern rivalries.
Having both finished inside the top three last season, Unicorn and Koller are widely regarded as the strongest challengers capable of ending Kwara Football Academy’s dominance. Saturday’s early kick-off could provide an early statement in this season’s title race.
History, however, favours the visitors.
In four previous Kwara Kiddies League meetings, Koller remain unbeaten, recording two victories and two draws against the White Horse Warriors. The Oloje Warlords have consistently found a way to frustrate Unicorn, a psychological edge they will be keen to preserve.
Last season, Koller completed a memorable league double over their rivals, edging the first meeting 1-0 on 13 July 2025 before producing a commanding 3-0 victory on 8 November 2025 in the reverse fixture.
Ironically, despite those results, Unicorn had the final say in the standings, finishing second on the final day, one place above third-placed Koller.
This season, neither side has tasted defeat.
Unicorn occupy second place with 11 points, collecting three wins and two draws, while Koller sit fifth on nine points after opening with two victories before playing out three consecutive draws.
For Koller, questions remain over the form of experienced striker Abdulhamid Yunus, who is still searching for his best form this campaign. The absence of prolific forward Wahab Abdulsamad is another significant setback. Abdulsamad was sensational during the second half of last season, scoring 12 goals to inspire Koller’s charge up the table.
That places greater attacking responsibility on the shoulders of Isiaq Hanafi, who will be expected to lead the line and preserve Koller’s impressive unbeaten record against Unicorn.
Unicorn, meanwhile, must cope without two influential figures. Last season’s Golden Boot winner Ajibola Gidado is unavailable, while Muhammad Abubakar also misses out.
Their hopes will instead rest on captain Ahmad Abdullah, whose leadership has been instrumental throughout the campaign, and the versatile Nasirudeen Abdulrasaq, who arrives in outstanding form after producing a Man-of-the-Match display against House of Prayer—scoring once and providing two assists in a dominant performance.
With unbeaten records on the line, local pride at stake, and valuable points in the race to challenge the reigning champions, all the ingredients are in place for a captivating contest. Expect intensity. Expect quality. Expect a battle worthy of two title contenders.
